For over fourteen years, my primary goal has been to LEARN and TEACH others
about THE VISUAL through photography, graphic design and also, more recently,
the book arts.

I have a sincere PASSION not only for the formal side of design but also the CONCEPTUAL side. Marcel Duchamp stated “I make art not just for the eye but for the MIND”, a quote that I feel should be the mantra of every designer. Students and practitioners have an obligation to create intriguing communications that are INTELLIGENT, SENSITIVE and CLEAR as our discipline moves forward in this increasingly complex world.

To do this, designers must RESEARCH and explore innovative ways to SOLVE PROBLEMS. My hope is that students leave my classes with enthusiasm for design and an understanding that, no matter what TECHNOLOGY, FORMAT or THEME they approach, there is great power in design.
